By not using insurance, you will have a greater degree of confidentiality and flexibility with your treatment. Insurance companies require detailed information regarding your treatment and a diagnosis code before paying for services. This means I have to share information about why you are seeking therapy, give you a diagnosis, and justify why therapy is medically necessary right from the first session in order for insurance to cover the service. Additionally, insurance companies can limit the number of sessions they cover, so with self-pay you have more autonomy regarding the length and frequency of your treatment.

I have a 24 hour cancellation policy. You can contact me via phone, text or email to cancel or re-schedule your appointment. If you cancel or re-schedule with less than 24 hours notice, or you do not show for your session appointment, you will be charged the full session amount.

Great question! Many people are nervous when they start therapy (let’s be honest, it can be nerve-wracking just thinking about starting therapy) so I aim to make it as comfortable as possible. During our first session, we will discuss your goals and expectations for therapy. There is some basic paperwork that needs to be completed before the first session, but it can be done electronically. It can be helpful to write down any questions you have and we can address those in our first session as well.

You have a right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much therapy will cost. This prevents surprise bills. For more information on your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises
